Android-The trend-setter of 2011

This post is dedicated to yet another invention of Google Inc-Android

Mobile gadgets have become so common for aam athmi as we migrate towards using smart phones. In recent days my eyes get easily drawn towards those ads from Dell Streak, Samsung galaxy tab.
There isn’t any surprise that only our Laptops and Desktops runs on Operating Systems (Eg: Windows or Linux), here comes an operating system for mobile applications and tablets called Android. First developed by a company called Android Inc which was later acquired by Google Inc. Android OS is an  combination of Java, C/C++ libraries and chunks of XML codes linked to it. The unveiling of Android took place through Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a consortium of hardware, software, and telecom companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. Initially Google was offering downloadable open source code of Android.

Few of its vivid features…

Bluetooth-point to point and multi-point connectivity
Media formats (MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, PNG, GIF)
3G (hardware dependent)
WiFi (hardware dependent)
Camera, GPS, compass and accelerometer (hardware dependent) [The feature of compass and accelerometer interests me ;)]
Google maps
Google ebooks
Google search engine
It doesn’t stop with that; it also comes with device emulator, tools for debugging and a plugin for Eclipse IDE.

The list continues.…
I wouldn’t be surprised when this OS is going to be run on TVs soon…

I would love to play with one of those gadgets with Android running on it …or may be gifted from some one [but I need to identify a sponsor] …lol J
